What is 4K?

4K refers to the horizontal resolution of a video image. 4K cinema standard is 4096 pixels across. 4K TV standard is 3840 pixels across & also known at 4K UHD. 4K is roughly 4 times the resolution of HD.

Why 4K?

The increased resolution translates into a cleaner and sharper image. This translates into a more realistic movie experience and makes you feel like your in the scene. This is important to “The Southwest” because the film has such strong visuals and will allow the viewer to have a greater inner connection with the film.

Beyond 4K

“The Southwest” is being shot in resolutions beyond 4K. We are shooting on Red in resolutions up to 8k which is over 16x the resolution of HD. Downsampling a larger image creates a more pristine and cleaner 4K final master.

Where can I see The Southwest in 4k?

Planned distribution for “The Southwest” is a worldwide big screen release. The film will later be available for purchase on 4k & 1080P on UHD streaming networks, Digital download, & on disk.
